My Explorers name is Bartholomeus Dias. He explored Africa in January 1450-1488. He was born in Portugal in 1405 and died on May, 29, 1500 in South Africa. The country he was sailing for was also Africa. He went to Africa to find basically anything and on short notice he found a cape called the "cape storms".Yes he did find Africa and new recorses. Soon after that he went to explore South Africa and got lost at sea and to be never found again.Some intresting facts are Bartholomeus Dias's name is spelled 2 ways wich is his last name is also spelled with a, z. He did not choose to explore Africa but King John II asked him to. He was frightened when King John II asked him to go to Africa. He only discovered a tip of Africa.He also knew Christopher Columbus.
